Carpenter: Reduce SeniorCare age to 62

Senator Tim Carpenter, D-Milwaukee, wants to see the minimum age for SeniorCare reduced from 65 to 62. He’s sent a letter to Governor Scott Walker asking for his help, and plans to introduce legislation next year. (WHN, 9/26)

Baldwin, Thompson spar over health care in separate La Crosse speeches

Dem U.S. Senate candidate Tammy Baldwin defended her support of the Affordable Care Act in a speech to the Wisconsin Counties Association Monday and criticized opponent Tommy Thompson for his plans to repeal the law. Thompson, meanwhile, struck back at Baldwin's attacks, saying he was a proven reformer who has stayed true to Wisconsin and that Baldwin would simply pay lip service to reforming Washington, D.C. DHS expects Medicaid changes to impact enrollment for 21,600

New premium and insurance crowd-out provisions implemented in July are expected to decrease enrollment in Badger Care Plus by 21,600 over the course of the next year, according to the Department of Health Services' budget request. That's a jump from the 17,000 enrollment impact predicted by DHS earlier this year when the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services signed off on the program changes. (WHN, 9/25)

State uninsiurance rate dips to 9 percent
