County leaders are calling on Governor Scott Walker's administration to help them receive enhanced Medicaid funding from the federal health reform law. Since counties can't receive the money directly, they are asking the state to serve as a conduit. (WHN, 7/31)

A Wisconsin family of four looking for health insurance could snag a health insurance plan for $2,400 in annual premiums with a $30,000 deductible. Or they could pay more than $17,900 with a $3,000 deductible. (WHN, 7/30)

Barron County voted last week against hiring new staff paid for by state and federal funding to help with federal health reform law enrollment efforts. Gov. Scott Walker's budget includes $38.1 million for county income maintenance consortia. Wisconsin Counties Association's senior legislative associate Sarah Diedrick-Kasdorf said she's unaware of any other county voting against the new positions (WHN, 7/25)

The federal government is spending about 46 cents per Wisconsin resident to promote the federal health reform law, well below the national average of $2.37. No other state, per capita, is receiving less. (ASSOCIATED PRESS, 7/25)

The Medical College of Wisconsin plans to welcome the first students to its Green Bay campus in the summer of 2015 and start its Central Wisconsin program one year later. In a statement, president Dr. John Raymond said the dispersed geography of Central Wisconsin "merits special attention to detail and careful implementation." (WHN, 7/25)

A lawsuit alleging the state is illegally denying coverage to people on a waiting list for BadgerCare Plus Core can proceed, U.S. District Judge William Conley said last week. However, it's likely to be a moot issue before further action is taken. (WHN, 7/24)
