DHS pulls plug on Virtual PACE proposal

Department of Health Services Secretary Kitty Rhoades told the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services last week that the state is concluding its participation in the federal pilot program for integrating care for dual eligibles after CMS indicated that DHS's latest proposal would need "major revisions." OCI panel recommends approval of Physicians Plus acquisition

Insurance Commissioner Ted Nickel should approve UnityPoint Health's acquisition of Physicians Plus, an OCI panel recommended Wednesday. The panel also said that the public hearing process was not the venue to address Unity Health Plan's concern that the acquisition will cause confusion in the marketplace because of the similar name. Below's a recap of how state insurers fared in the third quarter. Wisconsin Health News compiled these financial figures from the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance's public filings. Notable exceptions from the list are Humana, which does not file quarterly state specific information, and United Healthcare, which only documents a portion of its Wisconsin business with OCI.
