Brown, Dane counties home to majority of those on long-term care waiting lists

Brown and Dane counties have more elderly or disabled people awaiting long-term care services than any other counties without Family Care, according to figures supplied to Wisconsin Health News by the Department of Health Services. As of March 31, about 60 percent, or 933, of the state's 1,568 waiting list members live in those two counties. (WHN, 4/30)

Nine medical professionals recognized as superheroes of medicine

Madison – The Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation honored nine medical professionals as superheroes of medicine at its Fundraising Dinner and Silent Auction April 25. Those honored were chosen from nominations received from patients and colleagues. Each recipient was chosen for his or her unique superhero traits and was presented with a personalized certificate.

Dean Health Plan takes steps to expand

Buoyed by increased capital from SSM Health Care, Dean Health Plan is looking to expand into several new markets in the coming years, CEO Lon Sprecher told Wisconsin Health News in a recent interview. He expects Dean will be in Missouri and Oklahoma by 2016. It's also taking steps to further its footprint in Wisconsin. (WHN, 4/28)
