City of Wauwatosa selects workforce health for employee workplace clinic

Wauwatosa, Wis. (June 15, 2016) — The City of Wauwatosa has selected Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Workforce Health, a provider of wellness programming and health care services for employers, to operate and staff a workplace health clinic for city employees.

Located in the lower level of Wauwatosa City Hall, 7725 West North Avenue, clinic services are available free to all City of Wauwatosa employees, retirees, their spouses and dependents age seven and up who are on the city’s health insurance plan.

Staffed by a board-certified Froedtert & MCW Workforce Health advanced practice provider, the workplace clinic can diagnose and treat many non-emergency minor illnesses such as sore throats, earaches, sinus and urinary tract infections, flu symptoms and skin rashes. Lab tests, vaccinations, physicals and routine prescriptions also can be obtained at the clinic, as well as preventive care visits and wellness coaching.

“Offering our employees a convenient, affordable way to take care of themselves and their families results in a healthier workforce and a healthier community,” said City Administrator Jim Archambo. “Over time, we expect this approach to providing employee healthcare also will benefit taxpayers by reducing the City’s overall health care spending.”

The clinic, which opened in early June, is already seeing employees, said Barbra Fagan, director of business development for Workforce Health.

“More and more employers are recognizing the value of a more comprehensive approach to workforce health,” she said. “Providing the right care at the right time and place is an effective way to keep people healthy, improve productivity and manage costs. And employees love the convenience.”

The City of Wauwatosa joins four other area employers that partner with Froedtert & MCW Workforce Health to provide workplace clinics. They include Associated Banc-Corp, the City of Milwaukee, Hatco Corporation and Palermo Villa, Inc. Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Workforce Health works with future-minded organizations that want to make health management a key business strategy.
