HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center Designated as ACR Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

Green Bay  – HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in all of the College’s voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.

The breast imaging services at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center are fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined that the hospital has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs.

“Our patients can feel confident knowing we are committed to providing the highest quality imaging breast care in the region,” said Gary Rogaczewski, Director of Imaging Services of Hospital Sisters Health System-Eastern Wisconsin Division, which includes HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center.

A dedicated team of imaging and interventional specialists from Green Bay Radiology work in partnership with HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center to provide the highest level of care.

“Recognition of HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence demonstrates its commitment to providing the  highest level of breast imaging and intervention to the Green Bay community through utilization of the most advanced imaging and biopsy equipment and highly trained technologists, nurses, and staff,” said Dr. David Balison of Green Bay Radiology.

The ACR, headquartered in Reston, Va., is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs for focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology, as well as the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
