Learn what’s new in Alzheimer’s disease research

Free public talk Nov.4 at Monona Terrace

Madison, Wis. — You can learn more about Alzheimer’s disease research and become a savvier consumer of news about the condition at the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center’s 13th annual free public event on Nov. 4.

The event, at Monona Terrace in Madison, begins at 5 p.m. with a resources fair that will include representatives from Wisconsin Sleep Center, the UW Health Osteoporosis Clinic, Madison School & Community Recreation Program, Support for Active Independent Lives, RSVP of Dane County, the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin, the Alzheimer’s Association and more.

The public talks begin at 6 p.m. with Dr. Maria Carrillo, vice president of medical and scientific relations with the Alzheimer’s Association, who will give attendees an “Update on Alzheimer’s Disease Research: Current and Future Directions.” She will be followed by Dr. Dominique Brossard, chair of the department of life sciences communications at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Brossard will speak on “The Brave New World of Science, New Media, and the Public,” which will take a fresh look at how to be a savvy media consumer of Alzheimer’s research.

Monona Terrace is located at 1 John Nolen Drive and parking in the ramp is available. Health care professionals can earn continuing education credit through the event.
