Madison, Wisconsin — Information is all around us. But are we collecting it efficiently? Do we understand it? And most importantly, are we using it to drive positive change in the health care world? To help answer these questions, MetaStar, which represents Wisconsin in the Lake Superior Quality Innovation Network, will host its fourth annual Health Care Quality Symposium on November 4, 2014, at the Glacier Canyon Convention Center in the Wisconsin Dells.

Approximately 250 health care professionals from hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and other affiliated organizations are expected to attend the Quality Symposium, which features national and state experts sharing best practices for using data to create strong care systems and healthier communities. Known for his fun and engaging style, Davis Balestracci, a national expert of making sense of health care data and quality metrics, will deliver the morning keynote address. In the afternoon, Virna Elly, a passionate patient advocate, will share her powerful personal story and detail how health care professionals can empower patients to access and make sense of their own health care data.

These presentations will bookend breakout sessions on topics such as population health management, using quality data in the long-term care setting, and engaging communities for prevention. Tim Hallock, a respected leader with a deep background in quality improvement practices, will lead an interactive plenary exercise on data sampling.

“We are thrilled to put together a program of excellent speakers to impart powerful lessons,” said Liz Menzer, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at MetaStar. “Using data effectively is absolutely critical for organizations to ensure the best care for their patients.”
