WPHCA announces “Community Health Centers Friend” Legislative award recipients

Madison, Wis.—As Wisconsin Community Health Centers celebrate the beginning of the annual National Health Center Week; we are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2014 “Community Health Centers Friend” legislative award. This recognition goes to a bi-partisan group of both State and Federal lawmakers in support of their work to advance access to medical, dental and behavioral health care.

This year’s award winners include: U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin, Congressman Paul Ryan, Congressman Ron Kind, Congresswoman Gwen Moore, Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, State Senator Jennifer Shilling, State Representative Lee Nerison, and members of the Speaker’s Task Force on Mental Health: State Representatives Erik Severson, Sandy Pasch, Joan Ballweg, Jim Steineke, Jon Jagler, Kevin Petersen, Paul Tittl, Joe Sanfelippo, Josh Zepnick, Chris Danou and Deb Kolste.

“We thank these legislators for their work in advancing our mission to provide patient-centered, cost effective medical, dental and behavioral health care in Wisconsin,” stated WPHCA Chief Executive Officer Stephanie Harrison. “Community Health Centers will continue to play a key role in connecting people with health care coverage, and providing the newly insured with a medical home.”
