Sauk Prairie Healthcare shines a light on women’s health

Prairie du Sac, WI – Every Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., women who are due for a screening mammogram can receive one with no appointment at Sauk Prairie Hospital. It’s part of Sauk Prairie Healthcare’s Walk-In Wednesdays, a program designed to eliminate the barriers that prevent women from scheduling an annual screening mammogram. In the last six months alone, more than 80 women have used Walk-In Wednesdays to receive this important and potentially life-saving preventive care.

For the second consecutive year, Sauk Prairie Healthcare will shine a light on women’s health and the service provided by Walk-In Wednesdays. Throughout the month of October, Sauk Prairie Healthcare will turn the community pink by providing families with pink bulbs they can install outside their home or in their front window. The pink lights will help raise awareness and honor those impacted by breast cancer.

“It’s a cause that’s so important to us at Sauk Prairie Healthcare,” commented Larry Schroeder, Sauk Prairie Healthcare CEO. “It’s an honor to shine a light on breast cancer awareness for women in our communities.”

Sauk Prairie Healthcare staff kicked off the campaign by passing out pink bulbs recently at the River Valley School District homecoming parade as well as the hospital’s Medication Take Back event.

Beginning on October 1, free pink light bulbs will be available for pick up, while supplies last, at Sauk Prairie Hospital Gift Shop, Lodi Clinic, Plain Clinic, River Valley Clinic, Wellspring and Wisconsin Heights Clinic.
