Medicaid Shouldn't Be Block Grant Based, Group Says

The Save BadgerCare Coalition says it strongly opposes U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan’s proposal to convert Medicaid funding to block grants. The group says the plan would eliminate federal matching funds that cover roughly 60 percent of Wisconsin’s Medicaid costs and that the proposal would inevitably lead to a dramatic reduction in federal Medicaid funding for the state, endanger access to health care for hundreds of thousands of Wisconsin’s low-income working families, and shift the financial burden of health care to state businesses and taxpayers.
