WHCA/WiCAL Congratulates Member on Receiving National Award

Connie Leinberger of Harmony Living Centers Receives National Center for Assisted Living’s Noble Caregiver Award

 MADISON –  The Wisconsin Center for Assisted Living is pleased to congratulate Connie Leinberger, who was recently selected from nominees from across the country as the recipient of the 2014 Noble Caregiver Award.

Leinberger, who is the Activity Coordinator at Riverview Village in Menomonee Falls, Wis., a WHCA/WiCAL member, thanked the National Center for Assisted Living for naming her as the recipient of this prestigious award.

“I am blessed to have the honor and privileged to serve, to assist and to be welcomed in the lives of our residents,” Leinberger said. “There is not a day that goes by where my heart has not been touched by the wisdom, the kindness, the actions and the love of our residents. I am at home in my heart at Riverview, I belong.”

The Noble Caregiver Award is one of four awards that the National Center for Assisted Living has to recognize assisted living employees from around the country who demonstrate exemplary work within the long-term care profession.

“These four individuals represent the best of assisted living and the inspiring work that goes on in our communities every day,” said NCAL Executive Director Dave Kyllo. “NCAL is honored to award such dedicated professionals who exemplify what it means to provide person-centered care.”

In her job as activity coordinator, Leinberger has created a number of engaging opportunities for residents, including setting up a community outreach program, hand bell choir and cooking class.

“Connie is an inspiration; her compassion and joy of providing quality life enrichment services to our resident’s shines through each and every day,” Lisa Benfield, Director of Operations for Harmony Living Centers, who nominated Leinberger for the award. “She integrates her activity planning to ensure each resident’s individualized social needs are met and their talents are expressed.”

Leinberger and the other award winners will be recognized at a special awards ceremony on October 5, 2014, in Washington, D.C. during the Eighth Annual NCAL Day held as part of the 65th Annual AHCA/NCAL Annual Convention & Expo.
