ProHealth Care to start construction on heart and vascular center in Waukesha
Waukesha, Wis. — ProHealth Care ceremoniously broke ground on Oct. 2 for a new building that will consolidate its heart and vascular teams and related outpatient services on the ProHealth Waukesha Memorial Hospital campus. Construction will begin in the coming weeks and is expected to take a year.
The groundbreaking event included remarks by Susan Edwards, CEO of ProHealth Care; Kooroush Saeian, MD, ProHealth Care cardiologist and physician leader for heart and vascular care; Paul Farrow, Waukesha County executive; Shawn Reilly, City of Waukesha mayor, and others.
“This new building will set the stage for us to further enhance the care and service we provide,” Edwards said. “The healing environment will benefit both our patients and our care providers.”
“Our new facility will advance an already exceptional patient experience,” Saeian added. “Every aspect was designed with the comfort and convenience of our patients and their families in mind.”
The single-story, 37,000-square-foot building will be located to the west of Waukesha Memorial. The main entrance will be on the east side of the building. On the south side, the building will be connected to the hospital by an underground walkway and also to an adjoining parking structure. It was designed by Eppstein Uhen Architects of Milwaukee.
The new building will feature:
- 28 exam rooms staffed by a multidisciplinary team of providers, including:
- Interventional and non-interventional cardiologists
- Vascular specialists
- Cardiothoracic surgeons
- Electrophysiologists
- Specialty advanced practice providers
- Specialty clinics for structural heart, vascular and arrhythmia care
- Dedicated areas for diagnostic services, including:
- Cardiac and vascular ultrasound
- Stress testing with nuclear scanning capability
- Testing for heart and vascular disease
- A cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation gym, including:
- A walking track
- Space for yoga and strength-training classes
- A conference room for patient education and programming, including:
- A demonstration kitchen for heart-healthy cooking classes
- Online connectivity
- Monitoring rooms for staff who provide services to patients with electronic medical devices
- Offices for administrative and support services
- Ease of access, with dedicated ground-level parking for patients and families and a covered patient drop-off area
Heart and vascular surgery, related interventional services and inpatient care will continue to be provided within the hospital.
ProHealth Heart & Vascular Care provides cardiac and vascular interventions, cardiothoracic surgery, electrophysiology, cardiac rehabilitation and treatment of structural heart and valve problems and vascular disease. Services are provided by a team of more than 300 professionals including cardiologists, cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons, specialized nurses, and cardiovascular and cardiac rehabilitation experts.
