More than 1,000 people have died from COVID-19 in Wisconsin, according to data released Tuesday.
There were eight additional deaths reported, bringing the total to 1,006.
“Even one death from COVID-19 is one too many,” Gov. Tony Evers said in a statement. “We are going to continue doing everything we can to fight this virus that has already taken the lives of so many across our state.”
There were 724 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19, for a total of 61,785 in the state.
DHS also reported that 12,875 people tested negative. The total number of people tested is 1,076,062.
DHS reported that 5.3 percent of tests were positive on Tuesday.
The seven-day average of new daily cases is 818, and the seven-day positivity rate of test results is 6.3 percent.
There were 364 total COVID-19 patients in Wisconsin hospitals as of Tuesday afternoon, a single-day decline of 50, according to the Wisconsin Hospital Association. There were 111 in intensive care units, a single-day decline of eight.
