Wisconsin sets another COVID-19 hospitalization record

COVID-19 hospitalizations in Wisconsin jumped by almost 70 on Monday, setting a new record for the most patients hospitalized yet.

There were 640 COVID-19 patients in Wisconsin hospitals as of Monday afternoon, an increase of 69 from Sunday and up 207 from the prior week, according to the Wisconsin Hospital Association.

Of those, 173 were in intensive care units, a single-day increase of seven and an uptick of 42 from last week.

State health officials reported an additional 1,726 positive cases of COVID-19 on Monday, for a total of 117,588.

There were two additional deaths, for a total of 1,283.

The Department of Health Services reported that 7,885 more people were tested, for a total of 1,522,965. The positivity rate was 21.9 percent, the third day the rate has been above 20 percent.

The seven-day average was 18.2 percent, and the seven-day average for daily new cases was 2,165.
