Wisconsin sets new high for daily COVID-19 cases

Wisconsin set a new high for COVID-19 cases on Wednesday as health officials reported 5,935 new cases. That brought the total to 244,002.

An additional 54 deaths brought the state’s death toll to 2,156.

There were 16,268 more people tested, for a total of 2,116,297. According to the Department of Health Services, there were 52,480 active COVID-19 cases.

The seven-day average for daily new cases was 4,839.

The seven-day average for daily new deaths was 37.

As of Tuesday, the seven-day positivity rate by person was 31.1 percent, and the seven-day positivity rate by test was 15.8 percent.

There were six patients at the surge facility in West Allis.
