Evers plans statewide address as hospitals surpass 2,000 COVID-19 patients
Gov. Tony Evers is planning to deliver a statewide address tonight as more than 2,000 COVID-19 patients were in Wisconsin hospitals on Monday.
According to the Wisconsin Hospital Association, the record 2,003 total COVID-19 patients was a 143 patient increase from Sunday and up 355 from the same point last week.
The Department of Health Services reported 4,360 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, for a total of 271,770.
Seventeen more deaths brought the death toll to 2,329.
The seven-day average for daily new cases was 5,639. The seven-day average for new daily deaths was 40.
There were 14,077 more people tested, for a total of 2,198,288.
According to DHS, 59,088 cases were active.
As of Sunday, the seven-day positivity rate by person was 35 percent, and the seven-day positivity rate by test was 17.5 percent.
There were four patients at the surge facility in West Allis on Monday morning.
There were 396 COVID-19 patients in intensive care units, a one-day decline of one and up 44 from the same point last week.
The Wisconsin National Guard will be collecting specimens for COVID-19 testing in 59 counties this week.
Last week, its teams collected a record 55,000 specimens at community-based testing sites and institutional-based testing missions in more than 40 counties.
As of Monday, teams have collected 803,027 specimens statewide.
