Physicians Echo Governor’s Call for Smart COVID Behaviors

The following statement on Governor Evers’ statewide address can be attributed to Society Board of Directors Chair Jerry Halverson, MD:

“Wisconsin’s health care system is under increasing stress because of the pandemic. Our hospitals are filling up faster than we’ve ever seen. Physicians, nurses and other providers have been incredible as new treatments are developed and lives are saved. But doctors are only human – and the horrific increase in hospitalizations is simply not sustainable.

“We appreciate Governor Evers calling on the public to embrace smart behaviors. Wearing masks, washing hands and staying socially distant can reduce the spread of COVID-19. We must reduce the spread, or the people who have always been there to take care of us suddenly might not be available to help.”
