HSHS Sacred Heart Foundation receives $100,000 gift to establish surgical nursing education endowment

EAU CLAIRE – The HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital Foundation recently received a generous gift from the estate of Annabel Bauer to establish a surgical nursing education endowment. The endowment, totaling $100,000, will help to fund academic programs, seminars and continuing education for surgical nurses working at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Bauer was a Mondovi native who had a fruitful career in nursing, military service and academia. She served as dean of Health Occupations at Chippewa Valley Technical College, she retired as a full colonel with the U.S. Army, and, after retiring, Bauer served the World Bank to teach and work in Africa.

The endowment will be awarded annually. This year’s endowment recipient will be announced at the Sacred Heart Foundation Caritas Guild dinner in May.
