UW study suggests female youth soccer players who give up other sports may feel more stressed, less rested

An abstract of new research being presented at the American Academy of Pediatrics 2017 National Conference & Exhibition found sport specialization was associated with significantly worse mood, stress, fatigue, soreness, and sleep quality among female youth soccer players, even after controlling for factors such as age and hours spent training.

Nicholas Family Foundation donates $1.5 million to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin

Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin has received a $1.5 million gift commitment from the Nicholas Family Foundation to support an endowed chair in pediatric heart transplant. The donation supports the $8 million challenge gift from the Herma family. Announced in April, the challenge benefits the Herma Heart Center and supports ongoing research and clinical innovation focused on eradicating congenital heart defects and revolutionizing programs designed to improve the quality of life for pediatric heart patients and their families.
