HSHS: Hospitals Earn The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Orthopedic Joint Replacement

Green Bay – The nation’s oldest and largest accrediting body in health care has awarded HSHS St. Vincent Hospital and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center in Green Bay its Gold Seal of Approval for Orthopedic Joint Replacement.

Patients who receive orthopedic joint replacements at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center are cared for by the experts of the Prevea Regional Orthopedic Center and Joints inMotion program.

“We are always striving to offer the gold standard in joint replacement,” said Dr. Mark Schick, orthopedic surgeon at the Prevea Regional Orthopedic Center. “We have a multi-faceted team approach, which leads to higher-quality and more successful joint replacement outcomes.”

HSHS St. Vincent and St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center are the only two hospitals in Brown County to achieve this level of recognition from The Joint Commission. In addition, the Gold Seal of Approval is a mark of excellence shared by less than 8-percent of hospitals in the nation.

“HSHS St. Vincent Hospital and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center have thoroughly demonstrated high levels of care for patients in need of joint replacements,” said Wendi J. Roberts, RN, executive director, Certification Programs, The Joint Commission. “We commend both of these hospitals for becoming leaders in orthopedic joint replacement, potentially providing a higher standard of service for patients in its community.”

The Joint Commission evaluates more than 21,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. It conducts rigorous, in-depth and on-site evaluations before awarding the Gold Seal of Approval.
