Milwaukee, Wis. (April 11, 2016) — According to data released by the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients, the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Transplant Center had the highest three-year solid organ transplant patient survival rates in Wisconsin from 2010-2012. The data, which are the latest available, showed Froedtert & MCW program’s three-year patient survival rates all exceeded the national average:
· Heart 100% (national average 84.25%)
· Lung 100% (national average 68.84%)
· Liver 97.30% (national average 82.22%)
· Kidney Deceased Donor 96.72% (national average 91.08%)
· Kidney Living Donor 98.39% (national average 95.71%)
“Transplant is the ultimate multidisciplinary endeavor,” said Johnny Hong, MD, director of the Froedtert & MCW Transplant Center. “The combined expertise of physicians and others on the transplant teams paves the way for exceptional patient survival rates, with more than a dozen specialties that play a critical role in successful transplantation. This data highlights the commitment we make to our patients every single day.”
To accommodate the growth of its solid organ transplant program, the Froedtert & MCW health network recently opened an expanded transplant center in the new Froedtert & MCW Center for Advanced Care. The new, larger clinic united the adult transplant services and multidisciplinary teams of physicians and staff in one location. A new, state-of-the-art transplant intensive care unit was also added.
