Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin to partner with Meijer

Partnership encourages health and wellness

Milwaukee, WI (April 19, 2016) – The Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin health network will team up with Michigan-based retailer Meijer to promote health and wellness in Wisconsin. The initiative coincides with the retailer’s plans to open stores in Wisconsin and reflects both organizations’ interests in encouraging healthy living.

The Froedtert & MCW health network will be Meijer’s exclusive health system partner for in-store medical clinics in selected Meijer stores located in 11 Wisconsin counties. Two clinics – one in Sussex and one in Waukesha – will open in 2016.

“We are pleased to partner with Meijer because we share a strong commitment to meeting people wherever they are to offer health and wellness opportunities,” said Patti Kneiser, vice president of employer services with Froedtert Health. “Whether it’s the convenience of an in-store clinic, an online virtual clinic or worksite clinic, we believe there are many ways to help people live healthier lives, and ultimately have healthier communities.”

“Meijer is committed to expanding convenient access to health care providers,” Meijer Health and Wellness Director Jacquelyn DeBruler said. “These partnerships give us an opportunity to connect local providers and patients, ultimately meeting people where they are.”

The Froedtert & MCW health network will participate in a variety of initiatives with Meijer aimed at wellness and disease prevention. One initiative involves operating clinics in selected Wisconsin Meijer stores. The clinics will provide easy access to affordable care for many minor health problems such as cold and flu symptoms, sore throats, and ear, sinus and bladder infections. They will be staffed by Froedtert & the Medical College nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

The Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin regional health network is a partnership between Froedtert Health and the Medical College of Wisconsin. It comprises eastern Wisconsin’s only academic medical center, Froedtert Hospital, Milwaukee; and Community Memorial Hospital, Menomonee Falls, and St. Joseph’s Hospital, West Bend. The health network also includes more than 2,000 physicians across 25 primary and specialty clinical locations representing the collaboration of Wisconsin’s largest multispecialty physician practice with a community-based physician group. The network’s three hospitals have 781 staffed beds, nearly 40,000 annual admissions and more than 900,000 annual outpatient visits. Froedtert & MCW network physicians have more than 700,000 annual patient visits at its health centers and clinics. For more information, visit froedtert.com.
