User-friendly design makes health plans and health insurance easier to understand
BROOKFIELD, WIS. (May 24, 2016) – Common Ground Healthcare Cooperative (CGHC), a nonprofit, member-governed insurance cooperative, is offering new tools as part of its website redesign to help people better understand health insurance.
The site was designed with the help of CGHC members that volunteer to serve on the health insurance cooperative’s Member Advisory Committee. Members told the cooperative that the site should feature information that is easy to find and easy to understand, without any insurance jargon.
“We’ve lived by the mantra ‘no small print’ ever since we started, and this is just another step in that direction,” said Cathy Mahaffey, CGHC’s CEO. “Our mission is to support members with the information they need to make the most of their benefits and save money wherever possible.”
The site features a new “Understanding Health Insurance” resource that puts important information about choosing and buying coverage at consumers’ fingertips, and also a “What you need to know about your coverage” for existing members looking to understand their plan. The site also features a new media kit, a blog and an application that will translate the text on the site into other languages. The website is also more mobile friendly so members can access information from their smartphones or tablets.
The revamped website’s address remains the same – CommonGroundHealthcare.org. Members are encouraged visit the site’s“what’s new” page to learn more about updated features and content. The page features a downloadable guide that explains the site’s navigation, which should allow members to go right to the information they need or use in one or two clicks.
