Milwaukee – Aurora Health Care today announced plans to build an ambulatory surgery center and medical office building in the rapidly growing 84South development in Greenfield. When complete, the $55.5 million project will enhance patient access to a variety of services, including general surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, GI, pain management and urology.
“Aurora Health Care is always looking for better ways to deliver high-quality, cost-effective health care,” said Steve Francaviglia, president of Aurora’s Greater Milwaukee South service area. “This state-of-the-art facility within 84South will serve as a specialty hub and provide new and expanded services that will help us better serve patients in Greenfield and surrounding communities. We look forward to moving this project forward on behalf of our patients.”
The multistory, approximately 130,000-square-foot facility would include an outpatient imaging center, sports health and rehabilitation, a specialty physician clinic and dispensary pharmacy. The facility would also increase capacity at Aurora St. Luke’s and Aurora West Allis Medical Center campuses, allowing Aurora to continue developing hospital-based services that best address patients’ evolving needs.
“We’re thrilled that Aurora Health Care has chosen to make this substantial investment in our community,” said Greenfield Mayor Michael Neitzke. “With the addition of Aurora Health Care to 84South, our public-private efforts with Cobalt Partners to redevelop this significant site will have resulted in the creation of more than 1,000 new jobs and a development value of nearly $165 million. Redevelopment of this site has been a City priority for many years and the realization of that vision will bring desired services to our residents and those of the surrounding communities. I believe that these amenities will serve to attract additional economic development as they provide the attributes that employees desire in today’s workplace.”
The new facility would be leased from an affiliate of Cobalt Partners, the Milwaukee-based developer of 84South. “We are excited to have Aurora, the state’s largest private employer and a demonstrated innovator in health care, join our best-in-class mix of uses at 84South,” said Scott Yauck, president and CEO of Cobalt Partners. “As health care and wellness becomes more integrated into how we live, work and play, mixed-use development continues to evolve along a similar trajectory. 84South will offer substantive and exciting options for employment, wellness, housing, dining, and gathering. We couldn’t be more pleased than to prominently feature Aurora in such a capacity.”
Pending government approvals, Aurora anticipates that work on the site will begin later this year and be complete by mid-2019.
