MARSHFIELD — Security Health Plan of Wisconsin today announced that Mayo Clinic, one of the nation’s leading health care organizations, has joined the insurance company’s provider network.
“For more than a century the doctors, nurses and researchers of Mayo Clinic have been known around the world as health care innovators and collaborators. The fact that they are part of the fabric of health care in our local area is an outstanding advantage for our families and neighbors. Adding Mayo Clinic Health System to our network of providers and facilities, along with Mayo Clinic for referrals, gives our members additional access to high-quality health care anywhere they live in the Health Plan’s service area,” said Julie Brussow, Chief Executive Officer for Security Health Plan. “The missions of our organizations are closely aligned and we look forward to working together on behalf of our members for many years to come.”
From providing care for growing families needing well-child visits and annual flu shots, to helping people who face serious health challenges, Mayo Clinic Health System offers more than 1,000 providers at more than 60 locations. Members of many Security Health Plan health coverage options will have access to Mayo Clinic Health System providers in western Wisconsin, in addition to Mayo Clinic providers and facilities in Minnesota.
New lower-cost plan offered in southwest Wisconsin
Not only is Mayo Clinic joining Security Health Plan’s provider network, it is collaborating with Security Health Plan and Marshfield Clinic Health System to offer a new, lower-cost health insurance plan for employers with 50 or more employees in southwest Wisconsin. This new employee benefit option from Security Health Plan features a provider network of Mayo Clinic Health System and Marshfield Clinic Health System, and is uniquely positioned to reduce costs for employers in La Crosse, Monroe, Vernon and Crawford counties. Coverage for this new plan would go into effect January 1, 2018.
“We have heard from employers in southwest Wisconsin who are looking for employee health care coverage options that can help them reduce expenses and be more efficient. This plan will achieve those goals and give enrollees access to two of the best health care providers in the region. We are excited to expand our service area to this part of the state with such a terrific new option for employers,” Brussow said.
“This agreement with Security Health Plan will create new options to some areas of Wisconsin and will open additional access to patients in other regions,” said Mark Koch, Chair, Mayo Clinic Health System Administration. “It is always our goal to create access for patients to receive the high-quality care provided by Mayo Clinic and the Mayo Clinic Health System. This new agreement serves to do just that.”
