MADISON — State Superintendent Tony Evers extended congratulations to 15 Wisconsin schools that were among 323 from 30 states named to the 2017 list of America’s Healthiest Schools.
“These schools have worked to serve healthier meals and snacks, increase physical activity, offer high-quality physical and health education programs, and empower school leaders to become healthy role models,” Evers said. “Congratulations on receiving the National Healthy Schools Award.”
The schools hail from the Chippewa Falls Area Unified, Fond du Lac, Howard-Suamico, Oregon, and Waukesha school districts. They are:
• Bay View Middle School, Green Bay,
• Brooklyn Elementary School,
• Halmstad Elementary School, Chippewa Falls,
• Hillcrest Elementary School, Chippewa Falls,
• Jim Falls Elementary School,
• Lineville Intermediate School, Green Bay,
• Netherwood Knoll Elementary School, Oregon,
• Oregon Middle School,
• Parkview Elementary School, Chippewa Falls,
• Prairie View Elementary School, Oregon,
• Riverside Elementary School, Fond du Lac,
• Rome Corners Intermediate School, Oregon,
• Southview Elementary School, Chippewa Falls,
• Stillson Elementary School, Chippewa Falls, and
• Summit View Elementary School, Waukesha.
The America’s Healthiest Schools campaign and the National Healthy Schools Award are offered through the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, an organization working to help children develop lifelong, healthy habits. All recognized schools meet or exceed federal nutrition standards for school meals and snacks; offer breakfast daily; implement district wellness policies and update progress annually; and provide students with at least 60 minutes of physical education per week and ensure physical activity throughout the school day.
