Celebrating health information technology in Wisconsin

MADISON — Health information technology (IT) supports health care transformation, expands access to high quality care, and increases economic opportunity. It also makes communities healthier through increased patient safety, decreases in medical errors, and strengthened interactions between patients and health care providers.

In recognition of the important role of Health IT in improving health care delivery across the country, MetaStar and others across the United States have joined together to celebrate National Health IT Week this week; October 2 – 6, 2017.

“Health IT is critical for improving health care and realizing efficiencies as we work toward the vision of optimal health for all,” said Greg Simmons, CEO.

At 92%, Wisconsin ranks second nationally in adoption and use of electronic health records (EHR). MetaStar is proud to have supported providers in this effort.

As part of the Medicaid Health IT Extension Program, MetaStar offers expert assistance to Medicaid-enrolled health care providers in Wisconsin as they begin to meaningfully use certified EHR technology. With the transition to the Quality Payment Program, MetaStar is helping providers in Wisconsin that serve small, rural and underserved areas.

MetaStar also provides Security Risk Assessments to customers across the nation to ensure both providers and their new technology are compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
