CV Academics’ flagship program, American Medical Pathway Honors Program (AMP HP), is a first-of-its-kind community platform and digital app for students, designed to complement traditional academic work and help students discover and navigate a successful career path to healthcare. The program utilizes “super mentors,” who are experienced undergraduates, graduate students, or young professionals who provide insight to student members, grades 9-12 and beyond, to understand the challenges and rewards of their chosen profession.
Christopher Simenz applauded CV Academics for playing a key role in democratizing access for both rural and urban students who may experience barriers to access and opportunities.
“The CVA Foundation will work to pursue equity of access and opportunity for a diverse range of both rural and urban dwelling students who endure barriers to access and opportunity in pursuit of higher education and employment in health careers,” Simenz said. “The CVA Foundation strives to increase opportunity for those who face daily challenges in gaining access to high quality education and career opportunities in healthcare.”
Michael Dolan emphasized the program’s commitment guiding students throughout their professional growth.
“While most college-bound students are simply destination driven, The American Medical Pathways / CVA Honors Program aims to help expand an individual’s career horizons by using experiential learning as a means to unlock a lifetime of medical field opportunities and by becoming each member’s path mate with an emphasis not on an endpoint, but on one’s journey of self-discovery,” Dolan said.
Taylor LaChapelle, a CV Academics super mentor, attributes her professional growth to the organization.
“The AMP Honors Program platform is a great tool that I am very grateful for, and only wish I had had access to earlier in my educational career. Coming from a small rural town in Wisconsin and being quite shy and introverted, it was difficult for me to form those connections with professors and other individuals who are crucial to advance toward a career in healthcare,” LaChapelle said. “Since being a part of the CVA team, I have grown tremendously in all aspects of my life and personality. I attribute this growth to the connections I have made, and the resources that are available, through the AMP HP platform.”
