DHS: 4,878 COVID-19 cases, 38 more deaths over weekend

Wisconsin surpassed 500,000 COVID-19 cases on Friday and added nearly 5,000 cases over the weekend.

As of Sunday, there were 506,890 cases of COVID-19 in the state, with 3,046 reported on Saturday and 1,832 on Sunday.

The state’s death toll is at 5,157, after 36 deaths reported Saturday and two more on Sunday.

So far, 2,908,626 Wisconsinites have been tested for the virus.

The Department of Health Services considers 28,735 cases active.

The seven-day average for daily new cases is 2,908, up from 2,244 a week ago.

The seven-day average for daily new deaths is 40, up from 26 a week ago.

As of Saturday, the seven-day positivity rate was 30 percent, down from 31.1 percent a week ago.

The rate by test was 10.3 percent, down from 10.6 percent.

No patients were receiving care at the surge facility in West Allis on Sunday morning.

There were 999 COVID-19 patients at Wisconsin hospitals on Sunday, a decline of three from Saturday and down 70 from last week.

According to the Wisconsin Hospital Association, 219 COVID-19 patients were in intensive care units, down three from Saturday and six from last week.
