UnitedHealthcare names CEO for Wisconsin market

The head of UnitedHealthcare’s footprint in Illinois will add oversight of Wisconsin to his role, following the retirement of the health plan’s longtime Wisconsin market leader.

Tom Kunst, CEO of Illinois employer and individual health plans, will now serve as CEO of UnitedHealthcare’s Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin health plans. He’s worked for the insurer for more than 30 years, with leadership roles in sales, account management and regional operations.

“As CEO of the three-state region, Kunst will help strengthen UnitedHealthcare’s efforts to meet the evolving needs of brokers, employers, members and providers while continuing to support access to quality health coverage,” a Thursday statement noted.

Dustin Hinton, the previous head of the company’s Wisconsin and Michigan markets, has retired. Hinton had been CEO since 2014.
