Expanded audit requested after FoodShare fraud ring exposed

Two Democratic lawmakers have asked for an expanded audit of a federally funded, low-income food assistance program, a day after news broke that nine Milwaukee County workers were operating a fraud ring that netted $290,000 over the course of five years. Joint Audit Committee members Rep. Andy Jorgensen, D-Fort Atkinson, and Sen. Jon Richards, D-Milwaukee, emailed their request Thursday afternoon to committee co-chairs Rep. Samantha Kerkman, R-Powers Lake, and Sen. Robert Cowles, R-Green Bay. (CAPITAL TIMES, 4/15)
