Third medical school a possibility in Wisconsin

The possibility of a third medical school in Wisconsin is moving closer to reality. A group backing an osteopathic school are developing relationships across the state and could have a new school up and running as early as 2012, according to Dr. Gregg Silberg, a board of director for the Wisconsin College of Osteopathic Medicine. Silberg and other supporters say a new school would help address the state's impending physician shortage. But critics, including the deans of the state's medical schools, argue it is an inefficient way to address the issue and the state should instead utilize existing resources. (WHN, 3/11)
