Wisconsin Medical Society supports measure on concussions

The Wisconsin Medical Society, the largest medical society in the state, has approved a resolution in favor of state legislation that would require young people who have symptoms consistent with a concussion to get written permission from a health care professional before they can return to play. The resolution was approved last weekend at the organization's annual meeting. At the same time, Rep. Jason Fields (D-Milwaukee) said he and his staff are drafting a bill that would require a doctor's permission before an athlete participating in organized sports can return to play.
