Food card fraud probed
Nine workers for Milwaukee County are suspected of running a food stamp fraud ring from at least 2005 through late 2010, scamming hundreds of thousands of dollars in benefits for themselves in the process, a state official confirmed Wednesday. The revelation drew an immediate call from one state senator to widen a legislative audit that was approved on Tuesday into the $1 billion-a-year FoodShare program. (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 4/14)
