Ex-Columbia Hospital to be rezoned for UWM

A rezoning of the former Columbia St. Mary's Hospital to allow new uses by University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is being recommended for approval by a Common Council committee. The Zoning, Neighborhoods and Development Committee this week voted 4-1 for the zoning change, which was recommended last year by the city Plan Commission. Since then, university officials have met several times with nearby residents regarding their concerns about how the former hospital complex will be redeveloped. (JOURNAL SENTINEL, 5/18)
