RxEOB.COM, LLC announces that Physicians Plus Insurance Company (PPlus), provider of healthcare services to more than 105,000 individuals in south central Wisconsin, has implemented emWellics <https://www.rxeob.com/secure/solutions-emwellics.asp> ™, a mobile platform solution that enables coordination of access to health plan member data via mobile phone. RxManager <http://www.pplusic.com/home/anytime/rx-manager>, the proprietary smartphone app branded by PPlus and available for Apple and Android operating systems, allows plan members with PPlus pharmacy benefits to access personal pharmacy claims, formulary and benefit information that is integrated into a database connected to the health plan’s website portal.

“Giving our members access anytime and anywhere to their personal pharmacy benefit options is essential for improving care, promoting compliance, getting members engaged in their daily health – and saving money,” says William A. Reay, PharmD, M.H.A., senior director and chief pharmacy officer, PPlus. “We recognize that our members use mobile applications everyday, so giving them the option to download RxManager from our website or from app stores will help anyone who wants take charge of their healthcare – from finding drug savings information to preparing questions for an upcoming doctor’s appointment.”

Robert S. Oscar, R.Ph., CEO of RxEOB, explains, “PPlus has been an important customer for RxEOB because the plan constantly brings innovative pharmacy information tools to its members. We are delighted to support them with our application development and pharmacy data management services.”

The emWellics™ mobile platform offers PPlus members various personalized modules within the RxManager app to accelerate their health commitment and wellness goals.  The personal medications module offers access to historical pharmacy claim information, allowing members to provide accurate information to providers. Additionally, members with PPlus pharmacy benefits can quickly and easily access:

·      potential savings on generic and therapeutic drug substitutions

·      possible side-effects and interactions with other medications

·      in-network pharmacy locations

·      physician appointment preparation tool

·      personal biometric health tracker log

·      ID card module

·      personal messaging regarding health and wellness maintenance

Oscar adds, “From our perspective, mobile applications will significantly impact how health plans and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) will enable their members to communicate and look for information about their healthcare and pharmacy benefits. As PPlus implements our mobile platform solution, it will validate our business focus on healthcare application and database services.”

A recent study (http://www.ama-assn.org/amednews/2012/02/20/bisb0220.htm) found that nearly 17 million consumers were accessing health information on mobile devices in 2011, representing a 125 percent increase from 2010. Experts predict that healthcare and medical app downloads (http://www.californiahealthline.org/articles/2012/2/9/report-more-people-to-use-smartphones-to-check-health.aspx) will reach 44 million this year, and 142 million by 2016.
