Milwaukee County supervisor calls on state to take over mental health complex

Milwaukee County Supervisor Joe Sanfelippo said Tuesday that the state should take over the county’s mental health complex. Sanfelippo, a Republican who joins the state Assembly next month, also called out his fellow board members for failing to respond to a recent letter from Disability Rights Wisconsin requesting the state suspend or terminate the complex’s license. Gundersen to accept UnitedHealthcare insurance

Gundersen Lutheran Health System will accept UnitedHealthcare insurance beginning Jan. 1 under a contract announced Tuesday. The deal will give 30,000 UnitedHealthcare policy holders coverage through the health care provider, said Wendy D. Arnone, president and CEO of UnitedHealthcare of Wisconsin. Wisconsin is 16th healthiest state

Wisconsin is the 16th healthiest state, according to the United Health Foundation's 2012 America's Health Rankings. While the state scored high marks for its low uninsurance rate (9.9 percent) and high school graduation rate (90.7 percent), it ranked last in public health funding and binge drinking. (WHN, 12/11)

Youth smoking rates on the decline

Gundersen to rebrand without the ‘Lutheran’

Gundersen Lutheran Health System will take on a new name next year, dropping the “Lutheran” from its title in most cases. LogistiCare may not be leaving state

Wisconsin's embattled medical transportation provider, LogistiCare, may not be leaving the state after all. Last month, LogistiCare's chief executive officer notified state officials that the company was terminating its three-year contract effective Feb. 17. But in an email obtained by the Journal Sentinel, a LogistiCare manager reveals that the company plans to bid on a new contract - a move that could grant the company more money to provide the services.
