Aurora Health Care plans Pleasant Prairie medical center

Aurora Health Care is pursuing a $130 million ambulatory surgery center and physician office building in Pleasant Prairie, according to a Friday statement.

The project will replace a previously announced facility planned in Kenosha. Aurora anticipates to start work on the site this summer, with a tentative opening scheduled for spring 2020.

“The region continues to grow with multiple major developments adding to local health needs,” Lisa Just, interim president of Aurora Health Care for the Racine/Kenosha/Northern Illinois patient service market, said in a statement. “Our new and expanded services will enhance patient access for the growing numbers of residents and employers.”

The healthcare provider expects the project to create 140 full-time healthcare jobs, according to the statement.

Aurora CEO Dr. Nick Turkal told Wisconsin Health News last month that Aurora is planning to expand services along the I-94 Corridor between Chicago and Milwaukee as it seeks a merger with Illinois-based Advocate Health Care.

That’s in part due an increasing number of businesses, including Foxconn, which plans to build a flat-screen manufacturing campus in Racine County.
