WISHIN partners with PatientPing

Wisconsin’s health information exchange has partnered with a Boston-based company to improve care coordination for the providers that use its records, according to a Wednesday announcement.

The Wisconsin Statewide Health Information Network will roll out a feature from PatientPing that will allow for real-time notifications when patients visit out-of-network providers.

PatientPing forged a similar partnership Michigan’s health information exchange. It also signed

a contract with Bellin Health last year and works with Mercyhealth.

WISHIN CEO Joe Kachelski called the deal a “natural partnership” and “mutually beneficial.” WISHIN has 1,500 sites of care in its network.

“It’s two pieces of a larger puzzle,” he said. “I think we’re going to magnify the value that each of us can deliver separately by joining together.”

Kachelski said they expect to spend the summer doing the technical work for the feature and offer it to members starting in the fall. The service will be optional for WISHIN’s clients, who will pay a fee for its use.

Kachelski declined to provide financial details of the contract.
