Evers taps American Family Insurance executive for insurance commissioner

Gov.-elect Tony Evers tapped Mark Afable, chief legal officer for American Family Insurance, for insurance commissioner Friday.

“Tackling the availability and affordability of health insurance is critical and I am excited to be part of a team that is dedicated to making Wisconsin an even greater place to live and do business,” Afable said in a statement. “As commissioner, I will work diligently to ensure that consumers are protected.”

Afable will replace current Commissioner Ted Nickel.
