Wisconsin sets COVID-19 records over weekend

The state set a new daily high for COVID-19 cases on Saturday with 2,817, followed by 2,217 more on Sunday. There have now been 115,862 confirmed cases of COVID-19, the Department of Health Services said Sunday.

Seven more deaths were reported Saturday, and none were reported on Sunday, bringing the total in the state to 1,281.

There were 12,584 more test results reported on Saturday, with a positivity rate of 22.4 percent. On Sunday, 8,023 more test results were reported, with a positivity rate of 27.6 percent, a record high.

So far, 1,515,080 people have been tested in Wisconsin.

The seven-day average positivity rate was 17.9 percent on Sunday, and the seven-day average for daily new cases was 2,091.

According to the Wisconsin Hospital Association, there were 571 COVID-19 patients hospitalized on Sunday. That was a decline of three from Saturday, which saw the most patients hospitalized for the disease yet, and up 164 from the prior Sunday.

There were 166 in intensive care units, an increase of five from Saturday and up 55 from last week.
