Wisconsin sees record COVID-19 hospitalizations, highest death toll since May

Wisconsin saw another record for COVID-19 hospitalizations on Tuesday, as state health officials reported an additional 2,367 COVID-19 cases and the highest single-day death toll since May.

There were 17 more deaths reported, for a total of 1,300. That was the highest daily death toll since May 30, when 20 deaths were reported.

There were 646 total COVID-19 patients in Wisconsin hospitals, a single-day increase of six and up 172 from last week. There were 205 in intensive care units, up 32 from Monday and up 71 from last week.

COVID-19 patients in hospitals and intensive care units are at their highest level yet, according to the Wisconsin Hospital Association.

As of Tuesday, there have been 119,955 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state.

The Department of Health Services reported on Tuesday that 10,764 more people were tested, for a total of 1,533,729. The daily positivity rate was 22 percent.

The seven-day average positivity rate was 19.5 percent, and the seven-day average was 2,255 new daily cases.
