Wisconsin sets highs for COVID-19 hospitalizations, new cases

Wisconsin set a record for new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, surpassing 3,000 reported in a single day for the first time. It also set a new high for COVID-19 hospitalizations.

There were 3,132 confirmed COVID-19 cases reported, for a total 141,830.

Nine more deaths brought the total number to 1,424.

An additional 16,656 more people were tested, for a total 1,648,658.

As of Wednesday, the seven-day positivity rate per person was 17.1 percent, and the seven-day positivity rate per test was 9.3 percent.

The seven-day average for daily new cases was 2,381.

According to the Wisconsin Hospital Association, there were 907 COVID-19 hospitalized patients, a single-day increase of 34 and up 238 last week.

There were 228 COVID-19 patients in intensive care units, a single-day increase of nine and up 20 from last week. That was also a new high.
