Hospitals set new highs for COVID-19 patients

COVID-19 patients in Wisconsin hospitals and intensive care units were at all-time highs on Thursday.

There were 1,230 COVID-19 patients in Wisconsin hospitals, an increase of 40 from Wednesday and up 187 from the prior week, according to the Wisconsin Hospital Association.

There were 328 COVID-19 patients in intensive care units, up 29 from the prior day and 64 from the same point last week.

The Department of Health Services reported an additional 3,413 cases on Thursday, for a total of 186,100.

There were 22 more deaths, for a total of 1,703.

According to DHS, 15,495 more people were tested, for a total of 1,916,746.

The seven-day average for new daily cases was 3,396. The seven-day average for deaths reported daily was 21.

The seven-day positivity rate per person was 23 percent on Wednesday, and the seven-day positivity rate per test was 12.2 percent.

The surge facility in West Allis was caring for one patient as of 11 a.m. Thursday.
