Nearly 1,300 COVID-19 patients in Wisconsin hospitals

Wisconsin hospitals continue to see a record volume of COVID-19 patients.

There were 1,295 COVID-19 patients hospitalized as of Sunday afternoon, a one-day increase of 58 and up 205 from the prior week, according to the Wisconsin Hospital Association.

Of those, 320 were in intensive care units, an increase of 44 from Saturday and up 36 compared to the same point last week. On Friday, a record 331 COVID-19 patients were in ICUs.

The Department of Health Services reported 7,688 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend, for a total of 198,166. The seven-day average for daily new cases was 4,007 as of Sunday. According to DHS, 40,538 cases were considered active.

DHS reported an additional 33 deaths over the weekend. The state’s death toll from COVID-19 was 1,778 as of Sunday afternoon. The average number of daily deaths reported over the last week was 27.

The total number of people tested was 1,966,192. The seven-day positivity rate per person tested was 24.5 percent as of Saturday, while the seven-day positivity rate per test conducted was 12.8 percent.
