COVID-19 hospitalizations set new high in Wisconsin

COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to soar in Wisconsin, setting yet another record on Monday.

There were 2,274 hospitalized COVID-19 patients, a single-day increase of 178 and up 271 from last week, according to the Wisconsin Hospital Association.

There were 456 patients in intensive care units, a one-day increase of 11 and up 60 from last week.

The Department of Health Services reported 4,389 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, for a total of 316,758.

There were 12 more deaths, bringing the state’s death toll to 2,649.

An additional 12,298 people were tested, for a total of 2,325,906. According to the Department of Health Services, 70,205 cases are active.

The seven-day average for daily new cases is 6,426. The seven-day average for daily new deaths is 46.

As of Sunday, the seven-day average positivity rate by person was 36.4 percent, and the seven-day average positivity rate by test was 17.9 percent.

There were 19 patients at the surge facility in West Allis on Monday morning.
