More than 10 percent of Wisconsin now fully immunized against COVID-19

More than 10 percent of Wisconsinites have completed their COVID-19 vaccine series.

And over 1 million Wisconsinites have received at least one dose, a milestone the state passed Friday.

“While we still have a long way to go, the light is certainly at the end of the tunnel,” Gov. Tony Evers said in a statement. “And every day we are one step closer than yesterday to reaching community-wide immunity and getting back to our Wisconsin way of life.”

Wisconsin vaccinators administered 1,713,382 doses of COVID-19 vaccine through Sunday.

Per state data, 18.4 percent of the state’s population, or 1,072,650 Wisconsinites, have received first doses, and 10.4 percent, or 603,600 Wisconsinites, have completed the vaccine series.

The Department of Health Services reported 535 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, for a total of 566,693.

Four more deaths brought the state’s death toll to 6,481.

So far, 3,214,557 Wisconsinites have been tested. DHS considers 6,850 cases active.

The seven-day average for daily new cases is 390, down 19 from Saturday and 236 from a week ago.

The seven-day average for daily new deaths is 10, up one from Saturday and down eight from a week ago.

As of Saturday, the seven-day positivity rate by test was 2.1 percent, down 0.1 percentage points from Friday and over the prior seven days, per preliminary data from DHS.

Per the Wisconsin Hospital Association, 249 Wisconsinites were hospitalized with COVID-19, down six from Saturday and 41 from a week ago.

There were 66 in intensive care units, up one from Saturday and down seven from a week ago.
