DHS: 28.1 percent of Wisconsinites have received first shot of COVID-19 vaccine
More than 28 percent of Wisconsinites have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Wisconsin vaccinators administered 2,595,204 doses of COVID-19 vaccine through Thursday.
Per the data, 28.1 percent of the state’s population, or 1,634,977 Wisconsinites, have received at least one dose of a vaccine, and 16.3 percent, or 948,765 Wisconsinites, have completed their vaccination series.
The Department of Health Services reported 434 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, for a total of 574,870.
The state’s death toll is at 6,597 people, two fewer than Thursday after DHS reviewed data and made changes.
An additional 4,825 Wisconsinites have been tested for COVID-19, for a total of 3,277,434.
DHS considers 6,721 cases active.
The seven-day average for daily new cases is 465, up six from Thursday and 79 from a week ago.
The seven-day average for daily new deaths is five, down one from Thursday and the same as a week ago.
As of Thursday, the seven-day positivity rate by test was 2.6 percent, up 0.1 percentage points from Wednesday and 0.3 percentage points from a week earlier, per preliminary data from DHS.
