DHS reports more than 1,000 COVID-19 cases for second day in a row

The Department of Health Services reported more than 1,000 COVID-19 cases Friday for the second day in a row.

DHS reported 1,092 cases, eclipsing Thursday’s two-month high of 1,046. The last time the state beat that mark was Feb. 11, when there were 1,239 new cases.

There have now been 583,935 COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin.

The state’s death toll is at 6,672 people, after DHS reported five more deaths.

An additional 5,514 Wisconsinites have been tested for COVID-19, for a total of 3,344,000.

DHS considers 8,566 cases active.

The seven-day average for daily new cases is 764, up 31from Wednesday and 233 from a week ago.

The seven-day average for daily new deaths is six, the same as Thursday and up one from a week ago.

As of Thursday, the seven-day positivity rate by test was 3.8 percent, up 0.1 percentage points from Wednesday and 0.8 percentage points from a week earlier, per preliminary data from DHS.

Wisconsin vaccinators have administered 3,380,401 doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

They gave 66,966 doses on Thursday, with a seven-day average of 50,182 daily shots.

Per state data, 35.9 percent of the state’s population, or 2,089,526 Wisconsinites, have received at least one dose of a vaccine, and 22.9 percent, or 1,330,471 Wisconsinites, have completed their vaccination series.
